From the corner room on the 18th floor of the hospital, we could see sailboats out on Lake Michigan through a narrow sliver between buildings. Watching the constant action of cyclists and busses at the intersection below provided some additional excitement. I think it was the intersection of Pearson & Mies van der Rohe Way.
Up in room 1827, day -2 was going smoothly. My wife and I were talking about the donor, who will be going to a facility wherever he lives tomorrow, to donate the stem cells which will save my son’s life. By chance, I came across this article, which says there’s a possibility that the donor might look like my son. They might share the same facial features, which is weird and exciting.
