A lot of people want to help my son by donating their bone marrow to him. Although you can’t do that, you can request a cheek swab kit from www.bethematch.org like I did, and possibly donate to another kid or adult in need. Check out this other thing I wrote about the donation process and WATCH THE VIDEO of this awesome guy donating. People also tell me they can’t donate because it’s too painful, but it is not 1984 anymore, and drilling into the pelvic bone to harvest the goods is no longer necessary. Now, a bone marrow donor gets shots of medicine for a few days that causes their bones to release stem cells into the bloodstream, and on the last day they give their blood, sort of like donating blood. Below is the best video of what the donor will do. When you spend 5 minutes to join this registry, know that there’s a small chance you’ll be contacted, but if you are told you do indeed match someone in need, you may be their only or best possible match. I’m going for 100 people, but I’m only at 2 so far, so we’ll see. Go right now, before you forget.
