With the bike dogs ready to eat any bike theif brave enough to trespass upon us, riders came for donuts and picked up packets in Washington Park Friday morning. Many will ride in the alleycat, and then party late into the night as others will elect to rest for tomorrow’s qualifiers.
A number of women took part in the Women’s Bike Messenger Association forum where they had the opportunity to share stories. It was interesting to hear about some of the unique challenges they face as women cyclists in the various cities they’re from. Not only were there people here from all over the country, but all over the world. Some men watched, silent, from the sidelines as the women talked about networking and how to be inclusive of other women who ride as well as transgender people.
Quite a few serious issues were talked about but also other things I wouldn’t have thought of. The women’s version of the Levis commuter series jeans were not popular amongst this group. I kept wondering where the Levis representative was that needs to be hearing this. Hey @Levis and makers of cycling clothing everywhere, these are the people you need to talk to about women’s cycling clothes!
